The development and application of mathematical models designed to solve
specific client problems is at the heart of SoftOpt.
Problems are formulated in close harmony with clients and, where
appropriate, are analysed from fundamentals in order to ensure that the most
relevant conceptual, mathematical and numerical formulations are used.
State-of-the-art mathematical tools are used, including Genetic Algorithms,
Dynamic Programming, Linear and Mixed Integer Programming,
Time Series and Data-mining.
Problem classes where these tools can be applied are, for example,
portfolio optimisation, risk management, scheduling, power generation,
resource allocation, and models in medicine and biology.
